TITLE:
WOOLF, Virginia. Freshwater: A Comedy. London: The Hogarth Press, 1976. First UK Edition.
DESCRIPTION:
The true first UK edition of Virginia Woolf’s only play, a three-act comedic farce edited by Lucio P. Ruotolo. This edition features the iconic, witty illustrations credited to "Loretta Trezzo"—the well-documented anagrammatic pseudonym of the celebrated artist Edward Gorey. Published by the Hogarth Press.
CONDITION:
Near Fine book in a Very Good (VG) Dust Jacket.
  • The Book: Bound in the original bright blue cloth with crisp gilt lettering to the spine. The boards are straight, corners are sharp, and the binding is perfectly tight. Internally excellent; the pages are bright, crisp, and entirely unmarked, with no owner signatures, foxing, or marginalia.
  • The Dust Jacket: Original typographic jacket featuring Trezzo's (Gorey's) artwork. The front flap is cleanly price-clipped. The jacket shows minor shelf wear and features a neat, closed tear. No paper is missing, and the tear is stable. The spine panel remains bright and unfaded.
A clean, structurally excellent copy of a scarce Bloomsbury and Edward Gorey crossover item.
