The Light of Asia by Sir Edwin Arnold published by Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner & Co. in 1892.  The story of the Buddha in fictional verse.  This new edition is dedicated to the members of the 'Most Exalted Order of the Star of India'.  Pages gilded on all three edges.  Illustrations from Buddhist sculptures and frescoes.  240pps.  Hardback with green cloth cover printed in red, green and gold patterns with the title in gilt on the spine.  Almost no signs of wear.  Inside covers with green patterned design.  Engraved portrait of the author opposite title page.  Title page printed in black and red.  Sticker of binder's firm on rear inside back cover.  Binding very tight.  This book appears to be unread and its condition is almost 'as new'.  11.5 x 16cm.
